In my Interdisciplinary class we were talking about Romanesque and Gothic architecture which led to some discussion on how the LDS church utilizes very little flash and trash for their church buildings (no offense intended to the pretty, pretty buildings the Catholic church builds. Love 'em), which somehow segued into random land (as usually happens about five times per class). My professor started talking about how times have changed with hymns. In the 1800s there was a specific sound being written, then came the feel-good "My Time on Earth" phase, into what my professor calls the Broadway show tune phase.
"Whenever we sing "Called to Serve" I always expect the Rockettes to come out kicking."
