Elena/Katherine/Doppleganger/blah blah bob loblah.

A few days ago I was organizing something when I heard a man's voice holler out to me.  I'm not entirely sure that I was organizing something, but knowing how I am at work about anything being present on the cash wrap at all (especially during this current period of drought), I assume I was putting stuff away or making sure the pens were all facing the same way or pushing the hangers all to the same side or making sure that nothing was present at all on the computer screen (yes, I'm aware that I have a problem).  Anyway, point is some dude yells, "hey Nelly Furtado!"  I ran over and he said, "hey... it worked!  My wife needs your help."  I sort of stared at him for a second and he added, "my buddy and I said you look like Nelly Furtado and it seemed like the best thing to call out since I don't know your actual name."

This happens to me ALL THE TIME.  Except there are a few different people I get quite frequently.  Like two-times-a-week-frequently.

So without further introduction: Who I Supposedly Look Like.

My freshman year we were all obsessed with One Tree Hill, and one day a girl (I can't remember who...maybe Maclaine?) said, "Jen...you actually look a lot like her!" and it never really ended.  From time to time a teenage girl who's into OTH will tell me I look like her.

Nelly Furtado.  This began freshman year, as well, when one of my boyfriend's friends upon meeting me in person said, "oh you're right - she totally looks like Nelly Furtado."  Probably the most common celebrity look-a-like that I get.  She even has a wonky eye like I do.

This started last summer, mostly from random customers at work, and I'm fine with it because I'm pretty sure Courtney Cox has the fountain of youth in her kitchen.

I've never thought that I look like Amanda Peet, but this is the one that men mention the most.  A few months back, a certain fellow kept going on and on about how he thought he was watching me in the movie 2012.  And I got a little chuckle when an ex-boyfriend who sorta broke my heart tweeted about how she's perfection.

And finally, for the love of everything that is beautiful and good in this world - STOP COMPARING ME TO KRISTEN STEWART!  It only happens occasionally, but when it does it causes my blood to burn and boil and my head to ache and God to kill a puppy.  The most recent time was a month ago when I was sitting in the hospital bed, coming out of my anesthesia following my surgery and the nurse said, "has anyone told you that you look like Kristen Stewart?"  I would have punched her in the nose, but I felt like I had an elephant sitting on my chest and couldn't even breathe enough to nod.

So really.  STOP.  I do not look like this hot mess.

Never-Brushes-Her-Hair is not amused, and neither am I.

So what say you, friends?

because we care.

Anthony Weiner is a wiener.  Shocking.

In other wonderful celebrity/politician news (because as I've told Brad and others, those who want to be celebrities but can't become politicians): Nikki Reed and that dude from American Idol are getting married.

Important stuff, right?

Everyone's getting married these days - jeez.  I was just getting used to the getting-knocked-up-then-married deal.

Anyway, they've been dating for probably 3 weeks and now they're engaged and it was her birthday and she wanted something low key and so he bought her a 10 dollar necklace and now she's buying them a house.  As a commenter on ONTD put so perfectly:

Yes, relationships that entail the woman giving everything and buying presents and a freaking house always work when the other person gives absolutely nothing but action in return.

aw

Every so often I really want to post certain things.  Pictures or lyrics or experiences.  Sometimes even simple recaps.  But I've become extremely wary of posting anything that might actually be linked to a real person or a real event in my real life because that might make it less real.

Does that make sense?  Have you ever seen the word "real" used more obnoxiously in parallel structure in a sentence?

Every time I have this desire to post about a friend I've been chilling with or something that's making me sad or why my life is feeling particularly interesting, I always see this one [frightening] picture in my head.  And then I can't post it.  My thought, I mean.  Here's the picture, in case you're curious.

in order to be trendy

it would appear that I need a tumblr.  Which means I would probably need to know what that is.  From my mostly uninformed estimation, I'm not exactly a tumblr kind of girl.  I don't get it.  What is it?  A blog?  But wait... no one ever really says anything except "oh my heart the color scheme" underneath some artsy photograph of a mostly pretty person in mostly pretty clothing.

Is it twitter with already-full-size-and-no-need-to-expand-them-pictures?  The hipster version of a blog?  The trendy way to impose our thoughts on others?

No thanks.

I had a twitter two years ago and didn't start seeing the benefit/use/need until this year.  One time, I publicly denounced skinny jeans on facebook.  I reserve the right to feel this way about tumblr, but seeing as I'm the antithesis of trendy or/and hipster, it's probably not going to happen.

for future reference.

A couple got married yesterday, which is mostly neat, but is mostly not that big of a deal because their ceremony was boring and I'm not actually English.

However, I found the fashion to be wonderfully entertaining.  And I fell in love with this:

Raise the neckline ever so slightly and it's perfect.  Want want want want want.

Bullying is a problem; sky is blue.

Particularly when it involves teenage girls.

But... I'm sorry...

What?

whyyyyyy.

So now Hilary Duff is an author.  Because she is SO qualified to "write" a book (I hope they're paying her ghost writer well).

boo.

the fact that this woman has written and published a novel makes me extremely depressed.  Not quite Stephenie Meyer level of depressed, but close.

Especially since it looks SO STUPID.

23 exclamation points?!  Do you know what 23 exclamation points looks like? !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and that's in small font.  Celebrity culture is annoying.

Utah is ranked 11th on a "best looking states" list.

Accuracy?

Who knows.

But entertaining, no?

NOT A TEXTBOOK.

This is depressing. Next to the stacks of Morrison's "Paradise" I needed to purchase for my women's lit course, I saw the antithesis of women's lib.

IN THE TEXTBOOK SECTION.

WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY?!
